Some people dreamed of career options when they were kids—astronaut, firefighter, scientist. I never had a plan B for my career path. Ever since I drew that satisfyingly perfect German Shepherd in the fifth grade, my mind was set on being an artist.

I'm really thankful that decision panned out. Not only do I make a living creating art—it's part of who I am. Frankly, I'm kind of a graphic design nerd. I decide which movie to see by which movie poster is designed the best. If I'm out driving, I'm mentally adjusting the letter-spacing on road signs. And if I'm really interested in something, I'm probably analyzing the composition at an uncomfortably close distance. Uncomfortable for other people that is. (Mommy, what's that man doing?)

My style lives somewhere at the intersection of illustration and design. Often the best solutions require both skills, and I strive to combine the two in a way that is visually striking, compelling and memorable. Though I work digitally, I combine hand-made brush strokes and rolled ink textures to create a final image that evokes traditional media.

The Bullet Points:

  • I grew up in Antioch, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please don't ask me if I surf—it's embarrassing.
  • I earned my degree in graphic design from Chowan University in North Carolina in 2000.
  • I've been published in LogoLounge 3, 4, 5, and LogoLounge Master Library Volume 2.
  • Since 2005, I've worked as a designer, illustrator and art director at Fellowship Bible Church.
  • I currently live in Nashville with my wife and baby daughter.
